A Day in Residence at PSM I i II stopnia im. Witolda Lutosławskiego w Nysie

I recently had the honor of leading a day-long session with Krzysztof Chlewicki’s trombone studio at PSM I i II stopnia im. Witolda Lutosławskiego in Nysa.

The day began with a lecture on effective warm-up principles, followed by exercises to apply these concepts in practice.

After the warm-up, I was joined by pianist Magdalena Kuraś in a brief performance of various stylistically distinct pieces, including works by Johannes Brahms, José Ursicino da Silva Duda, and Shao Suan Low.

After the recital and a short break, I had the pleasure of working one-on-one with the members of the trombone studio. We focused on various playing aspects, including proper posture, the use of continuous air, artistic choices, and phrasing.

I would like to extend my gratitude to Krzysztof Chlewicki and the school’s direction for their invitation and warm welcome, as well as pianist Magdalena Kuraś for her exceptional playing.
